The New Zealand Gold rush

The New Zealand Gold Rush

Through out Hurumanu 1 we have been learning about the New Zealand gold rush. We have watched a few a videos and read quite a few storeys so I am going to share some of the facts that I have learnt so far.

1. People on the west coast of the south Island thought that there town was a ghost town.

2. New Zealand turned into a gold mining country basically over night

3. there used to be big chunks of gold called gold nuggets but now there are only just tiny little pieces.

4.If you go to Shantytown Heritage park which is   in Grey mouth it shows you what the west coast used to be like in the olden days,There is also a steam train that you can go on threw out this little part of shanty town called China town. There is also a part were you get a pan and get to go gold mining.
