Book Review

In reading we have been doing novel studies I read the book called boy by Roald Dahl, I would rate this book a 2.5 out of 5 I think that it is two easy and I need books with harder words and more chapters, Other then that I did enjoy reading this book.  After we had tread each chapter we had to right a chapter review about the chapter we had read.

Gymnastics

Today for P.E we were doing gymnastics, we had bars,mini trampoline,Floor, Beam and Trampoline. There were cards at every different station that we had to do as many things on that list as we could, On the mat I  Could do a handstand, Cartwheel and bridge on the bars I could not do anything, On the trampoline I could do a front flip.

 EOTC Recount

Last week we spent three days out of school on three different trips Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. So today we have to write a blog post about all three of the places we went to last week.

The first place we visited was Adrenalin forest/ Spencer park, When we got there we had to put a harness on.  We then had to use a trial rope to have a practice of undoing our Carbiner's that were on the rope then we had try on a Zip line. After we did the practice we  could on anyone of the courses I went on level 1,Which was not very high off the ground. After Adrenalin Forest we went across the road to Spencer ark and played on the playground and ate lunch after that some of us went to the beach once we had gone to the beach and came back it was time to get back on the bus and go back to school.

Christchurch City tour on the Thursday we went on a city tour were we first went to Margaret Mahy playground, We stayed there for about an hour and then we walked to turanga library were we went on a tour of the library, After the library we walked to the museum and then we had a look around the museum and after we finished at the museum we went to the botanical gardens.

On Friday we went to Jellie park I went on the Hydro slide 8 times I spent heaps of time in the pool to, I preferred Jellie park more then all of the other day outs.

Horror story

 Hurumanu 2

Today during hurumanu I was writing a horror story, It is not the most scariest story but that does not matter. I have only done chapter 1 and I will do chapter 2 later. Here is my chapter one:

Chapter 1 - A very strange noise

One day there were two boys playing in their bedroom and they both heard

a very strange noise so they looked around the house at first they thought it

was their next door neighbours cat who had snuck into the garage again but No

it was not. Again they heard the strange noise, so they looked in the bathroom but

there was Nothing in there other then their mums dressing gown. So they keeped

walking around the house trying to figure out the noise but they could not find

Out what is was. So they ran out of the house and went out to the tree hut and

when they got there they found a lady with 8 children. The lady was trying to harm

the children by having them lining up against the wall.

 I hope you liked my story keep an eye out for chapter 2.

This period we have been working on some activity around our ETOC days we are going on next we were we will go to jellie park,Adrenalin forest and a city tour we had to choose an activity off a task board our teacher sent us.

Jellie Park because I get to go on the hyrdroslide and see my little sisters and my old school there.

What are you most excited for,Is there anything you are nervous for?

I am excited to go on all of these trips.

What do you think you will enjoy the most?

Going to jellie park or on the city tour because it will be fun.

Gymnastics Term 4

Hello my name is Lacie and today in P.E we have to make a blog about gymnastics for 4 things on each different activities.  Below are some of the moves you can do on each activity:

Today we were doing a writing test if we had finished before our 40 minutes were up we had to do one of the fast finish task that are teacher had put up on the TV based around our school fun coming up next week.First of all we had to register ourselves the online fundraising page if had not already then we had to set ourselves some goals on a blog post.

The money we fund raise is going to go towards Kids Can to help them with everything they do like to donate free foods to schools for children who do  not have any food.

 100 word Challenge

today our teacher is away so we have a reliever and one of the tasks our teacher left us with was to do a 100 word challenge about paw prints on miss laycocks car,

One day Miss Laycock woke up and saw human sized foot prints on her car it was not her who stepped on her car and it was not her partner either. So they looked on the security cameras and found at that it was a giant Puma like cat who had very muddy paws that stood on Miss Laycocks car. Then the next morning they spotted that there were more foot prints on her car and when she went out into her car to go to work she got so frightend because the giant puma like cat was asleep in her car, So she had to scare the cat off out of her car so she could go to work.

Through out hurumanu 2 for the past week we have been doing abstract art were the teacher gave us 3 words which were fear,growth,love . We had to draw what we think about that but without drawing actual pictures you just had to mix different shapes and lines and stuff like that together. Here is a picture of my art:

Here is my hundred word story:

One day there was a pug dog named Bellah that ran away from home , and found itself walking down a path through a forest. when it came across a blanket and grabbed it because she was cold.  Then suddenly a fox came up to her and said do you want to be my friend the poor pug got so frightened and replied NO NO NO just before she dashed away and went to hide in a bush where she stayed for 2 weeks until her owners came out looking for her. When her owners finally found her they were so happy.

For the past 2 days we have been working on blackout poetry on paper but today we are doing it on our device we used a website called Blackout poetry maker. Here are my 3 poems there are two screenshots for the same poem because I could not get it all to fit into one screen shot.  They are words out of storeys some of them are from Alice in wonderland, Pride and prejudice  and Heart of Darkness. I preferred the digital one more then the one on paper because it was more fun and I could actually make up storeys that made some sense.

It started when a boy wore a pink shirt to school on his first day at his new school.  He got bullied and called lots of different names. Blackout Poetry

 Blackout Poetry

It is a new term and also the final term of the year. Every term we change hurumanu. This term we are doing art as one of our hurumanu classes. For the past two days we have been doing blackout poetry. Which is when you have a piece of paper out of a newspaper and make a poem or short story using that,you box the words you want to keep and black out the words you dont want to keep. I made two poems,I had fun but towards the end I got bored. For black out poetry you need a piece of newspaper, A black ballpoint pen, Black vivid. Here are the steps that you need to follow to do blackout poetry.

1. Get inspired google blackout poetry.

2.Box the words you want to keep.

3. Black out the words you dont want to keep.

4. Cut out your poem or story.

5. Glue your poem or story onto a piece of coloured paper or onto black card.

This was the first story i did and it says: 

A man told his family the fire started before racing uphill. Dark smoke about 5.45pm that day,So told his daughter get the cat and dog and put them into the four wheeled drive. His wife Janine was in queens town at the time but drove back threw the night arriving at 5.30am the next day.

My second story says: When the liar made it into the new episode of death and legal drama.

Characterzation

Characterization

Today in class we watched a video about the ginger bread man and then we had to answer a few questions on our blog.

The protagonist is the old lady who baked the ginger bread man  because she was a good lady and baked the  ginger bread man for them to eat for dinner. She took her time to bake it and said it  was for dinner because her husband was busy in the garden so she cooked him a treat for dinner.

 The antagonist was the fox who ate the ginger bread man.  He said he was going to take the ginger bread  across the river on his back but then he said it was uncomfortable so the ginger bread man had to go sit on the foxes neck and then he said that he had a cramp in his  neck so the gingerbread had to go sit on the foxes snout but then he flipped the ginger bread up in the air and then he flipped him into his mouth and ate him all up. 

The old man was very exicted about being able to work in his garden. The old lady loved being in the kitchen and cooking. The gingerbread man was a very checky person because when he got up and ran out of the oven he had a very checky face.

Art

 Art 

In class for the past 2 or 3 days we have being working on perspective art and then today we had to write a story about our art. During art we drew a picture of some trees and a road or bridge.  Here is my story: One day there was a girl named Harzy driving her very nice new car done through this forestry tour area she had to drive down that path everyday on the way home from work. This time something that was not expected happened, She was just driving down the street and her front right hand wheel popped and heaps of bits of rubber blew everywhere from all of the wind. Luckily she remembered she had a spare tyre and some tools in her boot of her car, So she opened up her boot door and pulled out the tyre it was extremely heavy , So heavy she hurt her back. Once she had gotten the tyre out of her boot she pulled the other tyre off and changed them around and then she carried on driving home it took her 4 hours to get home because she lived very far away. When she got home her 9 year old daugter had cooked her some dinner at first she thought it was very good until her daughter said that the food she cooked was poisioness. She fell very Ill and had to go to hospital to get better. After 6 weeks she was all better. From there on she would never eat the food her daughter had cooked.

For the past 3 weeks we have been working on what we are going to be selling at market day. We have been working on this with Miss Laycock our dean. In my group it is Felicity, Hayley, Shelby and me (Lacie). At market day we are selling hand cream. We named our company Bits and Balms. At the moment we are up to making our poster to tell people what we will be selling at market day. My next steps are to help more in my group. I am most excited to sell our products and look at other stalls at market day. Here is our business plan.

Character words

 Character words

Today in Hurumanu 2 we are learning about some words about characters like Protagonist and some other words then we had to make a DLO or a blog post  explaining the words we are learning about today in class.

Here are the words we are learning about and what they mean:

Protagonist-Usually means the good guy for example Harry potter 

Antagonist- Usually means the bad guy or not the so good guy. Lord Voldemort 

Narrator- A person who usually writes the story or rewrites it and helps the characters be where they are supposed to be.

Flat character- Means they stay how they are throughout the film and do not change much during the film or the story.

Dynamic Character- A Dynamic Character  changes a lot trough out the story or movies and is the opposite a flat Character.

Static Character- Is one of the most important characters in a story or movie and are kind of the same as a Dynamic character.

Round character- Is pretty much the same as a flat character and does not change much through out the story or movie.

Christchurch/Otautahi

 Christchurch/Otautahi

Today in class we are working on completing activities that our teacher had put onto a task board for us. We had to read a few stories and watch a few clips. We also had to answer a few questions.
Here is the first question: How have the Christchurch quakes had an impact on our city? My answer is that the cathedral square is still very damaged. Heaps of people have a huge fear when they go by the cathedral square. Heaps of the building are still damaged and will probably never get fixed because it would be to difficult.  The second question was: What positive or Negatives have came from the quakes. My answer is: A negative is that some of the building that got really damaged in the quakes will probably never get fixed because it would be to hard to fix every single crack or hole that appeared,Around most of the buildings that got destroyed have got scaffolding around it so that they do not fall down. The third question was: What are some of the changes that citizens have made to prevent damage happening from potential future earthquakes? They try to make thing more protected like building that they make Have more softish materials then harder materials but they still use hard materials as well.

Then I made a google slide about some of the research I had done here is my google slide. Did you know Melanoma is one of the most deadliest skin cancers in New Zealand.

Using solarpower

 Using solar power

Today in class we used solar power to make  s'mores last week we made solar ovens but I was away so I did not do it. We had a cardboard box with tinfoil init we put our biscuit on the tinfoil and then we put the marshmallows on the biscuit we used a magnifier to reflect the sun onto the  s'mores.
