The Fire in the port hills
The fire was caused by an electric fault lots of houses got burnt The port hilldown. Lots of people were evacuated Most of the quarry was blocked off and sadly 1 person died as he crashed his helicopter while trying to save lots of people’s lives. His family would be really upset. My mum’s friend got up on our roof and he could see all the flames. The fire was coming down the hill Oh no! My grandad could see the flames from his kitchen window and you can even see it from Rolleston. There were 12 fire trucks, 7 helicopters with monsoon buckets, 2 airplanes with monsoon buckets. It was really humongous and scary and heartbreaking for people who lost their homes. The helicopters pilots used pools and rivers to try to get the fire out but the water kept making it worse. Christchurch was in a state of emergency once again.
