Parihaka
Today in class we have been learning a little bit about Parihaka. We watched a few videos about children going to historical jails to see what their ancestors, had to go threw and stuff like that and then we had to post on our blog what we saw in the videos, whats the children experienced and why it is important and also what passive resistance means and what they did at parihaka to show passive resistance.
In the videos we saw young Children travelling by buses to different Historical Jails through out the south island of New Zealand. They experienced a lot of mixed emotions by seeing what there Ancestors had to go threw, quiet a few of the children were very upset. It was important for them to visit these places so they new what there ancestors went threw and how they survived. Passive resistance means trying to different types of social things without violence. How Parihaka showed passive resistance: They showed passive resistance by trying not to be violent or if they were violent they would try to stop being violent.
